Web-Aware Responses To RFPs
December 27, 2009
Our friend is making a pitch to revive the 9-hole golf course at the West Los Angeles campus of the Veteran’s Administration. To make his response to the RFP stand out among the crowd, we reserved a URL for his proposal, and sketched out a future web presence. The cost for deploying such a tactic is minimal, but the benefits are big: the site provides an easy reference and visual reminder, and proves our candidate is serious and resourceful.
By reserving a URL and creating a custom “coming soon” page that goes beyond plain text, and gives a hint of what’s come, you create expectations—an anticipation of, “What’s next?” It distinguishes you from other candidates who were not so thorough, and shows that you’re savvy about new media and mobile information. In short, you’ve got a strategy.
Wish our friend luck. The course at the West L.A.’s VA is one we played and enjoyed many times before it was closed to the public. We hope to see it reopened again soon.
